To become an EnvironMentors High School Student Mentee, you need to be:
- Interested in STEM research
- Willing to learn new skills
- Committed to meeting with your mentors for 1-3 hours, once a week, either in person or on Zoom (depending upon project, mentee, mentors, extracurriculars, optional events, etc.)
- Committed to completing and presenting your research project at the Environmentors at UCD Science Fair
- Amenable to participating in the EnvironMentors at UCD activities and events, as your schedule permits
The UC Davis Research Symposium is hosted at UC Davis every Spring for our mentees to showcase their research and present posters on their findings. Everyone is welcome to attend! Transportation will be coordinated.
Once accepted into the program, the registration for high school students needs to be completed by a parent/guardian. Additional parent/guardian permission slips will be required for any EnvironMentors field trips and campus events.
Each high school student participant of the UC Davis EnvironMentors chapter will receive a stipend to be put towards general expenses, such as transportation or office supplies.

To become an Graduate Student mentor, you need to:
• Be within a STEM field/major
• Have a strong interest and willingness to mentor a high school student in environmental research
• Be dedicated to assisting your research mentee in completing the research project
• Amenable to participating in the UC Davis Research Symposium, as your schedule allows
• Committed to meeting with mentee/mentor group 1-3 hours, one a week, either in person or on Zoom (depending upon project, mentee, mentors, extracurriculars, optional events, etc.)
• Complete UC Davis required compliances for adults working with minors in a timely manner
Additionally, undergraduate/graduate students must be full-time students and able to demonstrate great academic achievement (GPA of 2.5 or higher).
Each Graduate Student Mentor of UC Davis EnvironMentors chapter will receive a stipend that will be awarded as a credit to their UC Davis University student account.
To ensure the protection of minors participating in the EnvironMentors program, each undergraduate/graduate mentor is required to complete and document four clearances. Instructions on how to complete these clearances will be distributed upon registration.
